About CTU in Prague

Founded in 1707, the Czech Technical University in Prague is the oldest technical university in Central Europe. Currently it has seven faculties (Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Nuclear Sciences and Physical Engineering, Architecture, Transportation Sciences, Biomedical Engineering) and several institutes and research centers.

The Faculty of Electrical Engineering was separated from the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering in the academic year 1950/1951. At present it has 420 teachers and approximately 4300 students (about 10% of them in doctoral programs).
